Biography
The starting point for making a series of work always comes from the experience of being out in the landscape; a particular moment while out walking that stays with me, becomes the reason and the desire to paint.
Sometimes just a remembered sense of colour, light or darkness can be the beginning and focus for making a painting. Memories from canoeing on rivers, present day discoveries of ponds in woods and water filled quarries, continue to bring the subject of water into my work. My paintings become a constellation of landscapes from past and present.
